Dance Instructor Opens Stamford Location For Tots

STAMFORD, Conn. — Kate Truesdell had often been asked about running dance programs for infants and toddlers, and after nine years of owning her own studio she will focus on a younger group with the opening of Greenwich Dance Studio Petite in Stamford.

“I’ve always said ‘I’ll do it when I have a little me,’ and now I do,” the mother of two, and founder and director of Greenwich Dance Studio located in the YWCA, said.

Her first studio in Greenwich offers classes for children 7 to 18 and the Stamford studio will focus on classes for kids 3 months to 4 years old. With the age difference the classes at Greenwich Dance Studio Petite will be more about socializing and interacting with others while introducing basic dance steps, she said.

While the two locations are separate because of the age groups, Truesdell said, parents can expect to have the same quality of teaching and enthusiasm of the students.

“I want to have this studio be a reflection on the other studio,” she said, adding that she will spend much of her time at both.

She had to open the second location because the YWCA does not have room for her to offer the additional classes. Greenwich Dance Studio offers 52 classes for some 300 students.

Truesdell had been eyeing the location inside the ShopRite Plaza on the city’s West Side for some time because it can be a huge convenience to the parents, she said. She said that before or after class parents can go grocery shopping, get coffee and run a variety of other errands while only taking their child out of the car once.

She also likes how close the studio is to I-95 and Greenwich, allowing her to draw from surrounding towns as well.

Greenwich Dance Studio Petite first opened its doors on Nov. 5 and offers a variety of different classes for boys and girls. Click here to find more information on class information or contact the studio by e-mail or calling 203-990-0370.
