At 2931 Fairfield Ave., The Copper Fox is located in the same spot as the legendary Kossuth Club, which shut its doors in 2002. Since then, nearly a dozen restaurants have tried to make a go of it in that spot, but none have succeeded.

The Copper Fox intends to change that record.

“We have a theme,” said co-owner Frank Dee. “It’s called graze, guzzle and groove.”

Indeed, a different event is held every night at The Copper Fox. Tuesdays feature two-for-Tuesday and a wild trivia contest and Karaoke is on tap every Wednesday night. Thursday is the popular omen mic jazz night, and live bands play every Friday and Saturday night. Sunday features football. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.

“The open mic jazz night is really cool,” said Dee. “People just get up and jam. On Friday nights, we book rock or country bands. And on Saturdays, we stick with R&B and dance bands.”

The Copper Fox's cocktail menu is extensive and features the largest selection of bourbons in the area with 19 choices. It also offers up 17 whiskey selections, 14 types of scotch and eight ryes.

Although the cocktail choices are extensive and the entertainment is superb, it would be a mistake to not sample the food at The Copper Fox. Under the direction of Chef Lindsay Ortleva, the menu is wide-ranging and mouthwatering.

The items served up include macaroni and cheese with crab, spinach and truffles, pan-seared wild salmon, pumpkin beer risotto, four-roses-braised short ribs, grilled eggplant Napoleon, prawns and grits, and butter-poached lobster tail.

The menu also boasts 10 types of chicken wings and five varieties of burgers.

“Lindsay really does a great job. She is so creative in the kitchen,” said Dee. “For my money, though, I say we have the best burgers anywhere.”
