David Genovese, owner Baywater Properties, said construction on the delayed Shake Shack project would begin this month, according to the Darien Times.
The restaurant chain, which recently celebrated the opening of its 100th location by giving out 100 free burgers at each store, opened its first restaurant in New York’s Madison Square Park in 2004, according to the Darien Times.
While trying to expand into Darien, the company ran into some trouble with the town’s Zoning Board of Appeals, which initially denied Shake Shack’s requests for sign variants, according to the Darien Times, which reported that the two sides were later able to reach an agreement.
