DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien shoppers can escape the cold and support their local businesses next week when the Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual Indoor Sidewalk Sales.
The Indoor Sidewalk Sales will last from Monday, Feb. 2, to Friday, Feb. 9. Many stores will be participating, including:
- Beadz Boutique,
- Darien Sport Shop,
- Everything is Rosey,
- Helen Ainson,
- Runner's Roost,
- the Dock Shop,
- Wendy's Closet,
- Wild Birds Unlimited, and
- Wiggles and Giggles.
Each one of these stores is owned by a local resident. The Darien Rowayton Bank is the title sponsor of the event.
"It's a great time to go out on the town and look for special buys, Valentine's Day gifts, gifts for friends and family, or something for your home," said Susan Cator, executive director of the Darien Chamber of Commerce. "You can rediscover local shops and visit some of the local business owners."
Much like the popular Sidewalk Sales in the summer, shoppers can take advantage of special offerings from participating stores. Many business owners live in Darien, and in addition to driving the town's economy, also support local nonprofits and other organizations.
Later this month, local restaurants will get a chance to showcase their offerings during the Darien Taste of the Town, a weeklong celebration of the town's eateries. From Feb. 19 to Feb. 26, local restaurants will offer special prix-fixe lunch and dinner menus or other special offers. Prices include $12.14 for lunch and $18.14 for dinner, or $20.14 for lunch and $30.14 for dinner.
Participating restaurants will include Center Street Public House, Bodega Taco Bar, Cesco's Trattoria, Coromandel, Darien Social, Estia's American, the Water's Edge at Giovanni's, Green & Tonic, Lobster Craft, Meatball & Co., Rory's Restaurant, Scena Wine Bar & Restaurant, and the Goose.
"It's a fun time to go out and try your favorite restaurant's specialty menu, or host a dinner party or get-together with friends," Cator said.
