GREENWICH, Conn. -- Sophia Scarpelli, owner of Sophia's Costumes at 1 Liberty Way in Greenwich, invites customers and friends to commemorate her 32 years in business with a champagne celebration on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Sophia’s opened more than three decades ago in Greenwich as a vintage clothing and antiques shop. It has grown in both scope and reputation to be the premier place to shop for costumes and accessories. The story was recently profiled in The Daily Voice.
Along with a huge costume selection, Sophia’s has amassed an enviable collection of authentic vintage apparel available for rent to discriminating customers requiring the ultimate in authenticity and style.
Shoppers also will find a beautiful collection of vintage jewelry, candles, fragrant soaps, greeting cards, one-of-a-kind gifts and a selection of ornaments and decorative pieces from around the world. Those who can’t attend are able to share the experience on Sophia’s newly revamped website, www.sophiascostumes.com.
“This shop has been a labor of love over the past 32 years, and during our champagne celebration I look forward to toasting to the future,” Scarpelli said. “I’ve always had an obsession for antiques and all things vintage, and while we rent and sell costumes and vintage apparel, I also enjoy when our customers discover our inventory of unique gifts, many under $25 and American made.”
Whether it’s fulfilling a young girl’s dream of impressing everyone at the prom with a one-of-a-kind vintage gown, dressing the couple who want to look the part of Gatsby and Daisy at the next party, or furnishing authentic outfits for a school history pageant, Scarpelli and her staff whips up outfits expertly. With immaculate pieces that represent all decades from the 1880s to the 1980s, Sophia’s has established a reputation for personal service and reasonable prices.
