DARIEN, Conn. -- The Garden Club of Darien is set to present a Garden Club of America flower show starting Thursday.
The free public show, entitled "Birdsong," runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday. The show is scheduled to feature "floral and other displays for all ages as the members of the Garden Club of Darien and other Garden Club of America clubs throughout New England and across the country showcase their talents inside and outside in the gardens," , according to a press release from the group.
Visitors "will be treated to fanciful fairy houses lining the woodland path, inspiring floral designs in a gallery setting, professional quality photographs entered from as far away as Honolulu; plants judged on 'par' or perfection; and botanical jewelry made entirely from nature’s bounty. A gift boutique will feature garden themed goodies," according to the release.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children after school to view the exhibits, entries and see the fairy houses, according to the release.
"We only produce these shows every five to eight years so know that there has been a lot of hard work to put on the best presentation we can," Garden Club representatives said in the release. "Proceeds will benefit Darien town beaches and parks, with an eye towards repairing recent storm damage."
For further information or questions, residents are asked to visit the Garden Club of Darien's website.
