Buy Plants, Stay For Afternoon Tea In Darien

DARIEN, Conn. -- Plants and tea are a winning combination Friday, May 6 in Darien where the Darien Community Association event offers over 2,000 naturally-grown perennials from a greenhouse.

The DCA Greenhouse Group will run the sale (free entry) at the DCA's Meadowlands, historic house and formal gardens.  8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 274 Middlesex Road.

Offerings include sun and shade plants, native, deer-resistant, and highly prized new varieties, annuals, succulents and tomatoes, among others.

After shopping, participants may enjoy a Tea Time from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with last booking at 2 p.m. There will be freshly baked scones with jam and clotted cream, tea sandwiches, and homemade cakes and pastries. 

The tea is $30, or $25 for DCA members. Reservations for tea are required by Wednesday, May 4 and may be made online at dariendca.org or call (203) 655-9050.

Profits from plant and tea event sales support the mission of the DCA, including scholarships for Darien High School graduates.
