Darien Board Of Realtors Hosts Homeowners Seminar

DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Board of Realtors and Lawley Insurance are co-hosting an informational seminar on new flood insurance laws.

Lawley Insurance, a Darien Board affiliate member, will co-host the free informational session on how "new laws for flood insurance can impact their property insurance and provide tips on how they can protect their assets," representatives said in a press release. The session, which is open to the public, is scheduled for 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at the Darien Town Hall Auditorium at 2 Renshaw Road in Darien.

This session will give an overview of the National Flood Insurance program including recent changes, according to the release. Other topics will cover the Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012, Homeowners Insurance Affordability Act of 2014, Refund Eligibility, Premium Subsidizes, Elevation Certificates and Permitting Considerations.

“With all of the changes around flood insurance, the Darien Board of Realtors asked us to help provide a free service for property owners to understand their insurance better and we are happy to help educate the public on this topic.” said Amanda Martin, Lawley Insurance’s Personal Lines Flood Specialist, in the release. 

Producer Dave Coughlin and Personal Lines Flood Specialist Amanda Martin, both of Lawley Insurance, will discuss the topics and more as a community service to help understand the flood insurance changes, according to the release.
