DARIEN, Conn. – Shine up your favorite non-motorized vehicle, Darien, and get ready to celebrate the Fourth of July with the annual YWCA Push-n-Pull Parade on Thursday morning.
The parade, which runs through downtown beginning at 10:30 a.m., kicks off in the parking lot at the Goodwives Shopping Center, where participants are asked to begin queuing up at 10 a.m.
At the conclusion of the parade, there will be food and music at Tilley Pond Park. The Dirty Sock Funtime Band will perform.
The parade route begins at the shopping center on Old Kings Highway North and goes up Brookside Road then turns left onto the Post Road. It will then travel westbound on the Post Road and make a right turn onto West Avenue and end at the park.
During the parade, the Post Road will be closed from Brookside Road to West Avenue. The Darien Police Department is urging motorists to avoid the downtown area during the event because traffic delays will be long.
Sponsors of the parade include William Raveis, Darien Rowayton Bank, The Melting Pot, Moffly Media, Urstadt Biddle Properties Inc., Rowayton Pizza, Vernal’s Service Center, LLC, David M. Osherow, D.D.S. Orthodontics, Mary Ann Hall’s Music for Children and Beyond and the Darien Youth Commission.
