DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Library will celebrate fine art photographer Ben Larrabee, who is the library's first artist-in-residence on Friday, Jan. 16, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a closing reception.
Larrabee will be sharing his experience and answering questions from attendees.
His fine art background has trained him to photograph as an artist so by instinct he includes artistic elements of composition, rhythm, texture and space in his images. In addition to portraits, he also photographs landscapes and nudes.
Larrabee’s formal training as an artist began in 1962 at the Rhode Island School of Design where he earned a bachelor of fine arts and discovered his passion through mentor and world renowned photographer Harry Callahan. In 1978, he returned to college to earn an master's in fine arts from Yale University.
The Darien Library is at 1441 Post Road.
