Darien Library To Screen ‘Batteries Not Included’

DARIEN, Conn. – The Darien Library is screening the 1987 film "Batteries Not Included" at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 16. This is part of the library’s monthly Wednesday Matinee series.

Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy star in the film, as two needy residents of many who live in a rundown apartment building that is under the threat of being demolished by evil land developers.

Extraterrestrials arrive to help in the nick of time and generate electricity for the tenement. The spaceships fight the developers’ henchmen as well. They even fight the fire that consumes the building and more.

The film was called “sweet, cheerful and funny family entertainment” by Roger Ebert.
