DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Library's Senior Moments series, a coffee-and-conversation program designed specifically for seniors, will hold a Qigong workshop on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Practiced for thousands of years in China, Qigong (pronounced "chee-gung") includes gentle, dance-like movements, mindful breathing, meditation and self-massage.
The movements are designed to improve health, restore vitality and achieve deep relaxation and peace of mind. With regular practice, these exercises have been shown to improve balance, reduce stress and tension, and help heal chronic conditions such as hypertension, arthritis and fibromyalgia.
The workshop will be presented by Bill Wrenn, a certified Tai Chi and Qigong instructor based in Norwalk who has practiced yoga, meditation and other forms of energy work for 30 years.
The Darien Library is located at 1441 Old Post Road.
