Darien Native Speaking At Library About His Books, Writing

DARIEN, Conn. – An author and journalist born and raised in Darien will speak at the town’s library on Thursday, April 9.

Michael Paterniti, a Darien native and the author of “Love and Other Ways of Dying,” will speak at 7 p.m.

He also authored the bestselling book “Driving Mr. Albert and The Telling Room,” which was named one of the best books of the year by NPR.

Paterniti’s shorter works have appeared in publications such as “Entertainment Weekly,” “National Geographic,” “The New York Times Magazine,” “GQ,” “Esquire,” “Harper’s,” and “The Christian Science Monitor.”

He has been nominated eight times for the National Magazine award, and received several prestigious grants and fellowships.

Paterniti, who now lives in Maine with his wife and three children, also co-founded the nonprofit children’s writing center The Telling Room.

Refreshments will be served at the event, with Paterniti’s books available for purchase.
