Darien, New Canaan To Host Events On Boarding, Day Schools

DARIEN, Conn. – Parents who are considering local, independent day schools or boarding schools for their children can learn about admissions requirements, strategy and test preparation from two local educational service experts at two June events.

Barbara Levine, from Chyten Educational Services, and Kristin White, a partner with Darien Academic Advisors, will present “How to Get Into Your Top Choice Boarding School or Day School” at 6 p.m. June 22, at Chyten’s Darien center, 1063 Post Road and at 6 p.m. June 24, at Chyten’s New Canaan center, 70 Main St.

Admission to the presentations is free, but reservations are required by e-mailing Levine at blevine@chyten.com or calling (203)-972-3600.

As the owner of Chyten Educational Services, Levine has worked with almost 2,000 students to help them achieve their personal best on the SSAT, ISEE, SAT/ACT and academic subjects, according to a press release.

She began a career in consulting more than 25 years ago after receiving her master’s degree from Harvard University. She opened her first Chyten center in New Canaan eight years ago and expanded to a second location in Darien in 2013.

White has advised hundreds of students and parents on how to navigate the independent school admissions process. She has written for several newspapers and educational newsletters and is also the author of "It’s the Student, Not the College: The Secrets of Succeeding at Any School — Without Going Broke or Crazy and The Complete Guide to the Gap Year."

White is a member of the New England Association for College Admissions Counseling and the Independent Educational Consultants Association. She is a graduate of Georgetown University with a master's of business administration from the University of Texas-Austin.
