WESTPORT, Conn. – Pure Barre studios in Darien, Fairfield and Westport are hosting fundraising and awareness events Saturday to benefit Change of Heart at all three studio locations.
Change of Heart is a grass-roots fitness program, presented by SELF magazine, that was created to educate women about heart disease in support of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women yet only one in five American women believes heart disease is their greatest health threat. With awareness, education and care, heart disease can be prevented.
The day’s activities will include donation-only classes, available to new clients, throughout the day and a 15 percent discount on in-studio retail purchases for any client who wears pink or red in support of heart disease awareness. There is a $20 fee to participate, and a $5 contribution from each participation fee will be donated to Go Red for Women for awareness, research and educational programs.
In addition to the workout, each participant will receive a Change of Heart water bottle, heart health tips and a subscription to SELF.
Class times include: Pure Barre Darien, 8:30 and 9:45 a.m.; Pure Barre Fairfield, 8:15, 9:30 and 11 a.m.; Pure Barre Westport, 8 and 9:30 a.m. and noon.
"We are proud to partner with Change of Heart and highlight this important cause with our Pure Barre family and the community,” said Laura Laboissonniere, owner of Pure Barre Westport and Pure Barre Fairfield and co-owner of Pure Barre Darien.
