It is known for being attacked by the Japanese more times than any other U.S. ship.

It was once hit by a torpedo, and five times by kamikazes carrying bombs. It was modernized throughout the 1950s and ’60s, and used in anti-submarine warfare, and was boarded for three tours of duty off the Vietnam coast. The Intrepid was finally retired in 1974. It is now moored in New York City as the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.

The Alumni Swing Band! – The band will return due to demand at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 6. The performance will include classic big band swing and jazz, along with more modern music. Lunch will begin at noon, before the program. Call to save a spot for lunch.

CT Pharmacy – The Side Effects of Aging – Speakers will talk about the effects that come with aging, many that people are not aware of in advance, at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 13. Those who attend will be able to find out more about what is normal and what to expect from growing older.
