DARIEN, Conn. -- One in 15 people who take opioid and other prescription pain relievers for non-medical use will try heroin within 10 years, according to the Darien Police Department.
That's why the department, along with several organizations, will host an informational talk for parents and teenagers from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Darien Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road.
Police say Darien is facing an alarming rise in heroin use and every effort is being taken to reduce the rise in the use of this deadly drug.
Speakers will include Roody Joseph and Rob DiRoma from the Counseling Center for Discovery and Change; Dr. John Douglas from Silver Hill Hospital and Officer Michael Cummings, Sgt. TJ Whyte and Nick deSpoelberch from the Darien Police Department.
