‘Darien’s Got Talent’ Adds Hollywood Talent Scout As Judge

DARIEN, Conn. – The upcoming Darien Arts Center-sponsored “Darien’s Got Talent” show is upping the ante for the fundraising event by adding a Hollywood talent scout to the list of judges.

Ceci Kurzman, president and founder of Nexus Management Group, has signed on as a finals judge for the event. Her credentials say she is a professional of talent representation, 360-degree marketing efforts and asset-building strategies.

Kurzman’s agency focuses on all those aspects of entertainment management and representation, and she has “managed, guided careers and spearheaded global campaigns” for such superstars as Shakira, Alicia Keys, Sade, Annie Lennox, Tori Amos, Toni Braxton and George Michael.

The finals of Darien’s Got Talent, where 15 performers will take the stage in front of a live audience, is scheduled for June 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Darien High School auditorium. The winner will receive $1,500; second place $750; and $500 for third place.

To get to the finals, participants must audition June 1 or June 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the high school auditorium. To be eligible for an audition spot, participants have to register online at or the arts center’s website at , by May 23.

In addition to Kurzman, the other judges for the finals are Tony Award-winning producer Edwin Schloss, Sony executive John McL. Doelp, professional ballet dancer Barbara Goldsmith, and Broadway director BT McNicholl.

Preliminary round judges include classical pianist August W. Boehm, choreographer Toni DeCarlo, TV and movie actor Ted Yudain, and international scenic designer Leo B. Meyer. Professional actor Matt Poretta will serve as MC.

Tickets for the June 29 finals are $35 for adults and $20 for students and children. Premium seat tickets are $125 and include access to a pre-show reception. Family sponsorship opportunities can be purchased for a total of $500, which includes tickets for two adults and three children and access to the reception. Tickets can be purchased online at the arts center’s website.
