The Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association will discuss Medicare coverage of home health care on Monday at 11 a.m. Barbara Newland of RVNA will present a program on home health care and what exactly Medicare will cover. She will discuss who is eligible, what isn’t covered, how Medicare pays for home health care and what you can expect to pay.
Art Gottlieb, licensed clinical social worker, will present color slides from the National Archives of the 1930s and '40s on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. Gottlieb will present a collection of color slides found at the Library of Congress, digitized for color and clarity. A great representation of what life was like in the United States during the late 1930s and '40s.
Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County will present “Getting Old Isn’t for Sissies!” on Wednesday. A free lunch will be offered at noon, and the program will start at 12:30 p.m. Melody Matheny Orpen, community health coordinator for Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County, will present a talk and offer tested tips on fall prevention, effects of medications and exercise. CT Pharmacy will host a program Monday, Aug. 10, at 12:30 p.m. Each year in the United States, at least 2 million people become infected with bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics, and at least 23,000 people die each year as a result of these infections, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A CT Pharmacy pharmacist will present a program covering the serious nature of “superbugs.”
