The public is invited to an artist's reception with Magallanes on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 4:30-6 p.m. at Darien Rowayton Bank, 1001 Post Road.
Magallanes was born in Mexico City and moved to the New England area in the early 2000s. She says she uses the inspiration of her home country's cultural, architectural, natural and geographic diversity to experiment with color and forms.
Her distinct style has enabled her to paint Connecticut icons such as lighthouses and boats in a unique and colorful way. Many of her pieces can be found in the homes of various art collectors throughout Mexico, Europe and the U.S.
