DARIEN, Conn. – Dynamic Athletics, a fitness training gym located in Darien, will co-host an innovative and challenging competition with two other local fitness companies, JoyRide Cycling Studio’s Darien studio and Downunder CT in Rowayton, Connecticut, Saturday, July 18 at 8 a.m. at Downunder, 157 Rowayton Ave. Rowayton.

“The race is a unique opportunity for us at Dynamic Athletics to collaborate with two other local fitness companies, JoyRide and Downunder, to challenge participants to step outside their comfort zone and put their fitness to the test,” said Bill Gallagher, owner of Dynamic Athletics and the Dynamic Tri organizer.

Teams of four people consisting of two women and two men will relay through a paddle board course, led by Downunder’s Karen Jewel and Nikki Fuentes, in staggered heats. Upon completion, the teams will then run 2.5 miles to Dynamic Athletics (25 Old Kings Highway North, Darien).Once at Dynamic, participants will compete in workouts that include 50 rotations on JoyRide’s indoor cycling bikes at a heavy, pre-set resistance, followed by deadlifts at varying weights and will finish with a Workout of the Day (WOD) of hand stands, burpees and wall balls.

After the workouts at Dynamic are complete, teams will then run 2.3 miles back to Pinkney Park in Rowayton. The winning team will be chosen based on a calculation of the total time and announced at Pinkney Park.

“We believe cross-training is essential for optimal fitness, and we are excited to participate in this challenging, unique and fun twist on a triathlon,” said Amy Hochhauser, co-founder of JoyRide Cycling Studio, which has studios in Westport, Darien, Ridgefield, Wilton and San Antonio.

Kim Beaumont, owner of Downunder CT, located in Westport and Rowayton, echoed Hochauser’s sentiments.

"PaddleFit is a unique blend of paddling and circuit-style training that will challenge and excite these athletes. Downunder is stoked to be part of the experience," said Beaumont.

Immediately following the event, participants and spectators are invited to Rowayton Seafood for a celebratory brunch that will include eggs, bacon, beer and mimosas for $25 per person.
