Cookie Martini: Hollywood

Tuesday, Sept. 9, 1 p.m.

Cookie Martini will be hosting a fun group focusing on all things Hollywood. What have been the most popular money making films? Whatever happened to your favorite starlet? Martini will be on hand with all the inside scoop.

Veterans Benefits

Monday, Sept. 8 at 12:30 p.m.

Anne James, veterans benefits officer for the 4th District of Connecticut, will discuss what the office of Veterans Benefits can do for participants and how to receive its services.  

CT Pharmacy, Senior Eye Health

Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 12:30 p.m.

CT Pharmacy (Hope Street Pharmacy) will offer information and tips on keeping your eyes healthy and avoiding cataracts, dry eyes, macular degeneration and other eye problems.

Bridge Classes begin Friday, Sept. 12

Intermediate: 10 a.m. to noon

Beginner: 12:30-2:30 p.m.

Douglas Thompson will teach intermediate classes. Thompson is a silver life master, placing him among the top 10 percent players in the United States. He is an American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) certified bridge instructor and bridge game director.

Beginner Bridge classes will cover introduction to the partnership side of Bridge: 5 Card Major Suit Openings, Minor Suit Openings, 15 to 17 No Trump Openings, and more. The goal is for everyone to play two hands each session. For questions regarding class and class cost, contact Doug Thompson at minus1880@hotmail.com.

Woodshop Donation Program

Woodshop volunteers will repair small wood items, chairs, drawers, tables and more for a small charge. Beginning in October, items will be accepted at the woodshop any Monday or Tuesday between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m.
