A woman called police saying someone tried breaking into her car that was parked in her driveway at 418 Partridge Street around 1:11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, Franklin Police said on Facebook

After yelling at them, the person ran to a nearby vehicle and drove toward Lincoln Street. The woman also said there were multiple people inside the car, according to police.

A short time later, another resident told officers patrolling the area that someone tried breaking into his house and car. Police then found two vehicles matching the descriptions provided by the residents on Elm Street. Officers tried stopping both cars, but they continued down Lincoln Street, police said.

After losing sight of both cars, officers found one of the vehicles had crashed into a wooded area at the corner of Winterberry Drive. The car, although empty, was determined to be the vehicle that was stolen from Partridge Street, police said.

A subsequent search of the area lead to the discovery of another vehicle as well as the arrests of 24-year-old Jonathan Rodriguez and 21-year-old Rachel Hernandez, both of New Britain, CT.

Several items were also found including a loaded handgun magazine but no firearm, police said. Both are expected to face several charges, police said. In addition a third person, a juvenile, was released to a parent and is expected to face charges.

Franklin Police said they have received about 33 calls of vehicle break-ins that night and are warning residents to stay vigilant. Anyone with information or concerns can contact the Franklin Police Detective Unit Tips Line at 508-440-2780.
