DARIEN, Conn. — The Darien Library will celebrate the history and music of the Grand Ole Opry, the longest running radio show in the world, at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at the Louise Parker Berry Community Room. The celebration will include a performance by local country band Gunsmoke.
Gunsmoke is enshrined into the Connecticut Country Music Hall of Fame; the Country Music and Dance Hall of Fame in Mount Kisco, N.Y.; and was elected Band of the Year by the New York Metro Country Music Association six years in a row.
They have performed for two sitting U.S. presidents and have received a State of Connecticut citation commemorating the band's 25 years of entertaining audiences with classic country music.
