As of 2:35 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, PSEG Long Island was reporting 293 active outages, impacting 5,327 of their 1,161,746 customers.

In Nassau County, 2,611 customers were impacted, while 2,609 customers in Suffolk County lost power.

The whipping winds also resulted in several tree limbs coming down on South Middle Neck Road in Thomaston, striking a vehicle. In Garden City, a transformer blew, causing a fire that left at least two houses smelling like smoke.

A high wind warning is in effect until approximately 7 p.m. on Friday in Nassau and Suffolk.

The estimated time of full restoration of power is approximately 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, PSEG said. Suffolk County customers should be up and running no later than 10:45 p.m. on Friday.

According to PSEG, “rest assured that our assessment and repair crews will be working through the night to determine the extent of damage and restore power as safely and quickly as possible. Outage information is the latest available and is updated every 15 minutes with any new information.”
