DARIEN, Conn. – JoyRide Cycling Studio will host a one-hour fundraising ride in support of the Darien Youth Community Fund  on Saturday.

The Youth Community Fund (YCF) is a group of 33 high school students from Darien who learn about and practice philanthropy in Stamford, Norwalk and Darien. The group will invite 12 organizations to apply for funding to support the local causes of homelessness, food insecurity, education for low income youth and substance abuse.

“We are excited to have this ride at JoyRide on Saturday. We have learned about and seen the enormous needs in our community and want to be able to satisfy more of the grant requests by fundraising to increase our funding budget. It has been eye opening for me to see how others in our area do not have the same opportunities that I have had. This fundraiser will be a terrific way to pull people together, do something healthy as a group, while also raising awareness for the Youth Community Fund and the causes we choose to support,” said YCF President Army Noonan.

Open to the community, the ride will be led by Darien instructor and resident Dina Fay. Riders are encouraged to book their bike in advance due to limited space. The fundraiser is open to all members of the community, including teens over the age of 13.

"As a company, part of our mission is to spread joy by supporting and giving back to the community. To that end, we could not be more thrilled that this incredible group of young people asked us to partner with them. Also, because indoor cycling is designed to accommodate a variety of ages and fitness levels, riders can go at their own pace, while feeling good and getting a great workout as they fundraise,” said Rhodie Lorenz, JoyRide’s co-founder and lead instructor.

The ride will begin Saturday at 11:30 a.m. The YCF is requesting a $40 minimum donation per bike, regardless of age. Click here to sign up.
