On Nov. 14, Allison and Joe Passero of Klaff’s will host a Wine & Food Tasting from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Klaff's, 28 Washington St., Norwalk. Proceeds will benefit women being treated at Whittingham Cancer Center.
The event will feature:
- Wine tasting provided by BevMax
- Martini bar with signature cocktail
- Chef demonstration by Chef Pietro Scotti of Da Pietro’s Restaurant
- Hors d’oeuvres by Bar Sugo, Match, Osteria Romana and Ripka’s Market
- Desserts by Nicholas Roberts Gourmet Bistro
Each year, 71,500 women in the United States are diagnosed with a gynecologic cancer. Each gynecologic cancer is unique, with different signs and symptoms, different risk factors and different prevention strategies. All women are at risk for gynecologic cancers, and risk increases with age. When gynecologic. cancers are found early, treatment is most effective.
“Dedicated to gynecologic cancer awareness and treatment, DesiGYNs on Awareness was formed to honor my mother, Sara Herz, who died of ovarian cancer in 2008. The loss of my mother was devastating and I can’t help but think if we’d known the symptoms or if she’d been screened for the disease earlier, we could have saved her life," said Allison Passero in a statement.
“I am so appreciative of the community’s overwhelming support of this first ever event.
