Over 20 local artists will display and sell their work with a percentage of the proceeds benefitting the DAC. Entertainment will include DAC musicians, dancers and a DAC art teacher who will demonstrate painting techniques on site. Food vendors and carts will provide French themed cuisine such as crepes and pastries.

The gathering of the greater Darien artistic community is the brainchild of local artist Nobuko Miki and her desire to provide opportunities for local artists and residents to connect through art.

“I believe that we live in a community that is rich in artistic talent, beautiful scenery, unique subjects and inspired collectors. There was a time when art shows and fundraising gallery events would abound. My dream is to revitalize and re-engage the local artistic community,” said Miki.

Local real estate developers Penny Glassmeyer and David Genovese are helping to bring Miki’s dream to fruition by generously providing the Grove Street Plaza venue and other support. Other committee members helping to organize La Place des Artistes include Pat Atkin, Gigi Barrett, Peter Saverine, Kaye Leong of Darien Rowayton Bank, and DAC Executive Director Amy Allen.

“We are so grateful to have the community’s support for this event. It’s a great backdrop for local artists to come together, as well as to enjoy talent from the Darien Arts Center,” said Allen.

A rain date for the event will be Saturday, Oct. 3 if necessary.
