  • Walgreen's Pharmacy: Alzheimer's Disease and other Dementias: Wednesday, April 20, at 12:30 p.m. Millions of Americans now have Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias, and this number is increasing every year as the population continues to live longer. The pharmacists from Walgreen's will be at the Mather Center to cover symptoms of Alzheimer’s, the risk factors, the prevention and the treatment of the disease.
  • Cookie Martini: Laughter is Still the Best Medicine: Thursday, April 21 at 1 p.m. For decades, researchers have explored how humor helps patients relieve stress and heal. The sound of roaring laughter is far more contagious than any cough, sniffle or sneeze. When laughter is shared, it binds people together and increases happiness and intimacy. In addition to the domino effect of joy and amusement, laughter also triggers healthy physical changes in the body. Humor and laughter strengthen the immune system, boost energy, diminish pain and protect one from the damaging effects of stress.
  • Park Street Singers: Monday, April 25, at 12:30 p.m. The Park Street Singers have performing for seniors in Fairfield County for over 30 years. What began as a casual group to sing for Mother’s Day at the Congregational Church on Park Street in New Canaan, grew into a women’s choral group that has performed over 1,000 times since 1973. The Park Street Singers focus on “songs from yesterday,” including show tunes, oldies, traditional folk, swing and blues.
  • Bingo with the Darien Youth Asset Team: Friday, April 29, at 12:30 p.m. The Darien Youth Asset Team of Darien High School will be back for an intergenerational Bingo game. Come for Bingo, trivia and prizes.

At the Darien Senior Program at the Mather Center, seniors of the community gather together for fellowship and learning pursuits. For more information on the Mather Center, call 203-656-7490 or click here.
