DARIEN, Conn. -- A foot health program, and live performances of Irish dancing and Dixieland jazz are among programs coming up at the Darien Senior Center.
The following is offered:
Stamford Hospital Senior Foot Health : Tuesday, March 15, 12:30 p.m. A hospital physician will present information on how years of wear and tear can be hard on feet, disease, poor circulation, improperly trimmed toenails, and wearing poorly fitting shoes.
Irish dancers: Wednesday, March 16, 12:30 p.m. Lynn Academy dancers will perform Irish step dancing. The dancers have won numerous first place New England Regional placements as well as top placements at the North American Championships in Irish Step Dancing.
Darien Library Poetry: Tuesday, March 23, 12:30 p.m. Early poems evolved from folk songs or from a need to retell oral epics. Poetry uses forms and conventions to suggest interpretation of words, or to evoke emotional responses. Poems, their history, and biographical information about poets will be shared.
Sedgwick Sisters Perform: Thursday, March 24, 12:30 p.m. This group of real sisters and their Mom perform Dixieland music, including songs and scat improvisation of Louie Armstrong’s "When the Saints Go Marching In," "Basin Street Blues," and "You Tell Me Your Dream!"
