Mather Center Holds Programs For Darien Seniors

DARIEN, Conn. -- A healthy eating program is among the many programs scheduled for seniors in Darien at The Mather Center.

A rundown of all programs is below. 

New senior aerobics class: Lisa Brehi-Robinson will be facilitating the class, beginning Monday, May 4. Robinson is a certified nutritional health counselor as well as an ACE personal trainer and certified group fitness instructor. The class will be a 45 minutes. Chairs, weights and bands will all be incorporated in the class. All exercises will be done to fun music of the '50s and '60s. There will be a guided warm up and stretching at the end of class. Class is $4.

Ridgefield VNA Lunch and Learn: Adaptive Ideas: Ridgefield VNA will present lots of helpful ideas to allow you to stay at home and continue carrying out your daily tasks safely. Please be sure to sign up, as space is limited. The program will be held on Monday, May 4, at 11 a.m.

Historical Series with Art Gottlieb: Since its opening in 1909, the Queensboro Bridge has towered majestically over New York’s East River at Roosevelt Island, remaining an essential link between Long Island and Manhattan’s fashionable Upper East Side. Art will present a beautiful verbal and picture tour of the history of this incredible structure. The program will be held on Tuesday, May 5, at 12:30 p.m. 

Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County Lunch and Learn: Healthy Eating After 50: VNH of Fairfield County will present a program on healthy meal planning. The program will offer practical suggestions along with ways to build a healthier diet. The program will be held on Wednesday, May 6, at noon. 

Monday Movies Move In: Join us in the café extension Monday, May 11, at 12:30 p.m. A popular movie will be streamed from Netflix. Monday movies will be offered once every month – so check the newsletter for dates.
