Klimt's painting was stolen by the Nazis in 1938 and was returned to the Bloch-Bauer heirs in 2006 following years of legal negotiations.

Bailiff is the coordinator for the Center for Curatorial Leadership’s new Mellon-funded Seminar in Curatorial Practice and a specialist in French art and culture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

She is a former associate educator at the Museum of Modern Art and still gives tours and teaches courses for the museum.
