The library offers two Summer Reading programs for children: The Summer Reading Club for kids who read on their own and the Read-to-Me Club for pre-readers who are 5 and younger.
The Summer Reading Kick-Off for ages 2 to 7 will take place in the library’s courtyard on Saturday, June 21, at 1 p.m., featuring crafts, snacks, face painting, and carnival-inspired games.
In addition, readers may also participate in the Summer Reading program by defeating 11 weekly levels in the Darien Dewey Defenders online game. A level will be posted on the website every Monday beginning June 9.
Each week, one participant will win a prize, and a separate grand prize will be drawn from those readers who participated every week at the finale party on Monday, Aug. 11.
Contact the children’s library at 203-669-5235 or visit the library’s website to view all the children’s programs.
The Darien Library is located at 1441 Post Road.
