Students Vs. Senior Bingo Tops Mather Center Programs In Darien

DARIEN, Conn. -- A Darien High School Youth Asset Team vs. Mather Senior Center bingo game is set for Friday, April 29 at 12:30 p.m. at the center in Darien.

Among upcoming programs, the Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association will present Fall Prevention Monday May, 2 at 11 a.m. 

  • Falls don't just happen to seniors. Falls are the leading cause of injuries among older adults but falls don’t occur just because we are getting older. 
  • Falls are usually caused by a number of factors and many falls can be prevented.

 The Korean War will be covered Tuesday, May 3 at 12:30 p.m. by Art Gottlieb.

  • Initially described as a “police action” in reaction to the North’s invasion of South Korea on June 25, 1950, the Korean War was an undeclared military action, the first authorized by the United Nations.
  •  Often referred to as the “Forgotten War” this still unresolved conflict saw Seoul change hands no less than four times before the signing of a contentious armistice on July 27, 1953.

Visiting Nurse/Hospice of Fairfield County offers a lunch and learn on stroke awareness Wednesday, May 4 at noon; program at 12:30 p.m. Complimentary lunch.

Choosing your electric supplier is the focus of a presentation by staff from the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority on Monday, May 9 at 12:30 p.m.
