The 12th annual luncheon will be held at the Stamford Marriott hotel. The crisis center serves the communities of Stamford, Norwalk, Westport, Darien, New Canaan, Wilton and Weston.

"As a television journalist in Dallas, Chicago and New York City for over 20 years, Hall has reported on every conceivable story," representatives said. "But the one that is still the most difficult for her to talk about is the tragic death of her sister, whose unsolved murder is widely believed to be the result of domestic violence."

Hall recently announced that she would feature stories about domestic violence throughout the year as part of the "Shine a Light” series on "Today," according to the release.

“We are honored to have Tamron Hall as our speaker at this year’s luncheon,” said DVCC Executive Director Rachelle Kucera Mehra. “Tamron addresses the issue of domestic violence with compassion and courage, inspired by personal tragedy and a commitment to helping other women and girls recognize and avoid abusive relationships. As well, she reminds us that domestic violence casts a wide net, impacting not only the intended victims, but also their sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, children, friends, work colleagues and sometimes entire communities.”

The Voices of Courage Spring Luncheon attracts 400 to 500 attendees who support the services the agency provides to victims of domestic violence, according to the release.

"As the major fundraising event for DVCC, it affords significant financial support for critically needed agency programs," representatives said.

Co-Chairs Denise Mangano of Stamford and Ellen Christian of New Canaan and a committee of 16 area residents are organizing the event, which includes a raffle.

For tickets and sponsorship opportunities for the luncheon or for more information, residents can call (203) 588-9100, email SpringLuncheon@dvccct.org or visit the DVCC website. Individual tickets are $115, and there are many opportunities for sponsorship at various levels.
