DARIEN, Conn. – A series to educate parents on how to raise teenagers in the complicated world today is being presented by Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, The Depot in Darien and Communities 4 Action.

The series, called “Coffee and Conversation,” will be from 8 to 9:30 p.m. monthly at The Depot, 25 Heights Road in Darien. The first event, “How the Adolescent Brain Works,” featuring Dr. Aaron Krasner, adolescent service chief at Silver Hill, is set for Oct. 15.

“Parents are always the most important influence on their children,” said Dr. Sigurd Ackerman, president and medical director at Silver Hill. “There is advice that can make a difference, and we are delighted to partner with these other community organizations and bring experts out to the parents of Darien.

Janice Marzano, program director at The Depot, added, “We designed them to be relevant based on what we see here at The Depot, and are happy to host these sessions.”

Coffee and Conversations topics in the future are:

  • Nov. 19: “Setting Limits with your Teen,” featuring Tracey Masella, adolescent social worker at Silver Hill Hospital
  • Jan. 17: “Depression and Anxiety in Youth, What Does it Look Like and When is it a Problem?” featuring Dr. Aaron Krasner, adolescent service chief at Silver Hill Hospital
