Upcoming Darien Senior Programs At The Mather Center

DARIEN, Conn. -- The Mather Center in Darien will be closed Aug. 17-21, but will have a variety of other events in August and September.

There will be a CT Pharmacy at 12:30 p.m. Monday. Each year in the United States, at least 2 million people become infected with bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics, and at least 23,000 people die each year as a result of these infections, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CT pharmacy pharmacist will present an informative program covering the serious nature of “super bugs.”

Tony Castle and Patsy Shore will perform at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. This talented duo will have you singing along to popular songs from Patsy Cline, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson and more. Bridge classes will begin again in September. Newplicate Bridge instruction will be conducted from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursdays beginning Sept. 10. If you are a bridge player that wants to try duplicate without all the pressure, this is the game for you. Newplicate instruction will cover such topics as duplicate etiquette and strategy. Newplicate bridge play will be from 9-11:30 a.m. Mondays beginning Sept. 14. For more information, contact Karen Barrett at 203-286-7530.

Intermediate Bridge will be from 10 a.m. to noon Fridays beginning Sept. 11. This class is for bridge players looking to expand their game.
