What To Do In Darien This Weekend

DARIEN, Conn. - There are lots of Halloween events in Darien this weekend, including the annual Mom's Morning In parade, a Halloween art workshop and spooky stories at Tilley Pond Park. For a full listing of events, check out our Events calendar.

Friday, Oct. 26

Mom's Morning In Halloween Parade: 10 a.m. Kids are invited to dress in costume and go trick-or-treating at Darien shops before a magic show at Tilley Pond Park. $5 per child. Parade starts at the Darien Fire Station, 848 Post Road.

Saturday, Oct. 27

Art Show and Reception: 9 a.m. to noon. The Darien Rowayton Bank hosts a coffee and bagel reception for artist Adrienne Mierzwa, whose paintings of landscapes and shorelines will be on display for the remainder of the month. Darien Rowayton Library, 1001 Post Road.

Child Safety Seat Clinic: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Darien Police Department, along with Fairfield County Safe Kids, will inspect child car safety seats and ensure that they are properly installed. Darien Police Department, 25 Hecker Ave.

Halloween Art Workshop: 11 a.m. Kids can sculpt Jack-o-lanterns out of plaster of Paris and learn how to make other Halloween decorations. $25. Darien Arts Center, 2 Renshaw Road.

Horror Movie Marathon: 4 to 10 p.m. The library hosts a movie marathon for teens, featuring "Casper" followed by "The Sixth Sense" and ending with "The Haunting." Halloween costumes are encouraged but not required. Darien Library, 1441 Post Road.

Stories To Chill Your Bones: 5:30 p.m. Kids are encouraged to come to Tilley Pond Park in their Halloween costumes for some spooky stories after dark. Tilley Pond Park.

Halloween Rave: 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Teens can dance the night away at this special Halloween-themed dance. $10. The Depot, 25 Heights Road.

Sunday, Oct. 28

Pancake Breakfast: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come down for a fun pancake breakfast. $5. The Depot, 25 Heights Road.

Historical Society Annual Meeting and Lecture: 3:30 p.m. The Darien Historical Society will host its annual meeting, followed by a lecture from Markham Shaw Pyle, author of "When That Great Ship Went Down: The Legal and Political Repercussions of the Loss of the RMS Titanic." Darien Historical Society, 45 Old Kings Highway N.
