Easy Economics : 7 p.m. Stephen Buckles, Lee Smith and Leonard Wolfe will discuss their book “Easy Economics: A Visual Guide to What You Need to Know.” Darien Library, 1441 Post Road.

Rep. Terrie Wood Town Hall Meeting : 11:30 a.m. State Rep. Terrie Wood will host a town hall meeting to discuss the major pieces of legislation passed during the 2012 legislative session. Darien Senior Center, 30 Edgerton St.

How to Talk to Your Aging Parents : 6 p.m. Aging expert Mary Underwood will discuss how to talk to your parents when they need assistance. First Congregational Church, 14 Brookside Road.

Book Discussion : 7 p.m. The library hosts a discussion of Emma Straub’s novel “Laura Lamont’s Life in Pictures.” The novel tells the story of a woman’s rise from her childhood in 1920s Wisconsin to becoming a major movie star. Prior reading of the book is not necessary. Darien Library, 1441 Post Road.

Newcomers Wine and Cheese Party : 7:30 p.m. The YWCA Newcomers Club hosts a wine and cheese party for people new in town. The party will be held at a member’s home. RSVP to newcomers@ywcadariennorwalk.org for more details.

Fifth-Grade Party : 4 to 5:30 p.m. All fifth-graders are welcome to a party featuring pizza, ice cream, a DJ, outdoor basketball, face painting and more. $20 per child. The Depot, 25 Heights Road.

Nobel Peace Prize talk : 7:30 p.m. Jay Nordlinger, author of “Peace They Say: The History of the Nobel Peace Prize, the Most Famous and Controversial Prize in the World,” will talk about the Nobel Peace Prize. Free for DCA members, $10 for nonmembers. Darien Community Association, 274 Middlesex Road.

Friday, Oct. 19
