Tuesday, Sept. 4

New Group Music Classes Launch Party : 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Darien Arts Center celebrates the launch of three new group music classes: Mommy, Music and Me I and II as well as Preschool Group Music Class. Battle of River Plate lecture : 12:30 p.m. Historian Art Gottlieb will discuss the Battle of River Plate, a World War II naval battle. Darien Senior Center, 30 Edgerton St.

Bounce Back to Middle School : 3 to 4:30 p.m. All middle school age students are invited to this celebration. Concessions will be open for drinks and snacks. The Depot, 25 Heights Road.

Ribbon Cutting : 5:30 p.m. The Darien Chamber of Commerce celebrates the opening of Venture Yoga and Wellness with a ribbon cutting. Venture Yoga and Wellness, 10 Center St.

Peter Max Uncrating Party : 6 p.m. This celebration will preview artist Peter Max’s work, which will be hanging in the Geary Gallery throughout September. A portion of the proceeds will go to Click it for Cassie. Geary Gallery, 576 Post Road.

Author Monica Wood : 7 p.m. Author Monica Wood will discuss her book, “When We Were the Kennedys.” The book tells her true story of growing up in Mexico, Maine, in 1963 after the death of her father. Darien Library, 1441 Post Road.

Friday, Sept. 7

Art Sale Wine and Cheese Reception : 6 p.m. The Darien Historical Society will hold a free wine and cheese reception in celebration of its “To the Table” art sale that will run throughout September. Darien Historical Society, 45 Old Kings Highway N.

“Darling Companion” Screening : 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The library hosts two screenings of the film “Darling Companion.” Starring Diane Keaton and Kevin Kline, the film is about the search for a beloved dog that goes missing during a wedding. Darien Library, 1441 Post Road.
