Finance and Budget Committee : 7:30 p.m. The RTM Finance and Budget Committee will meet. Room 119, Darien Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road.

Tuesday, Sept. 18

League of Women Voters Luncheon : 11:45 a.m. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy will be speaking at the Darien League of Women Voters luncheon. The topic will be "The Importance of Elections, Voting and What the Governor Has Done to Increase Participation." The cost is $45. Country Club of Darien, 300 Mansfield Ave.

International Celebration : 12:30 p.m. The Senior Center celebrates a variety of cultures, with Bob Lupi performing music from many different countries. Darien Senior Center, 30 Edgerton St.

Book Discussion : 7 p.m. The Darien Library kicks off its Fall Book Discussion series with a discussion of Susan Cain's "Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can't Stop Talking." Prior reading of the book is not required. Darien Library, 1441 Post Road.

"When A Mom Starts A Business" panel discussion : 10 a.m. Darien mom Holly Hurd leads this panel discussion on what women need to know when starting their own business. The panel will include Stacey Bewkes of The Quintessence Blog, Jennifer St. Jean of the Itty Bitty Bag Company, Jennifer Covello from Fritabello Baby Journals and Gwynne Tibbetts and Bambi Riegel from RT Picture Works. Ribbon Cutting : 5:30 p.m. The Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting for Kensett Darien, a new housing development in town. Kensett Darien, 1 Kensett Lane.

Friday, Sept. 21

Managing Social Media Roundtable : 8 to 9:30 a.m. Mary Callahan, partner and tech specialist of 341 Studios, and Robin Roscillo, founder of Back Office Solutions, will present a roundtable discussion on how to create impact using social media. "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" screening : 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The library hosts two screenings of "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel." The film stars Judi Dench and Bill Nighy and tells the story of a group of English pensioners who leave their homeland for an exotic hotel in India. Darien Library, 1441 Post Road.
