What's Happening In Darien This Weekend

DARIEN, Conn. – This weekend is the first concert in the Darien Summer Nights series, the final round of Darien’s Got Talent, the annual Fourth of July Fireworks and the unveiling of a new monument at Spring Grove Cemetery.

Friday, June 29

Darien Summer Nights : 6-9 p.m. The popular concert series kicks off the summer with a performance by Darien resident Katharine Hedlund. Grove Street Plaza.

“The Artist” Screening : 6:30-8:30 p.m. The Darien Library hosts two screenings of “The Artist.” This silent film is the most recent winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture. Darien Library, 1441 Post Road.

Saturday, June 30

Red Cross Blood Drive : 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Darien Masonic Lodge hosts a blood drive. 354 Post Road.

Darien’s Got Talent : 7 p.m. The Darien Arts Center hosts Darien’s Got Talent, featuring 18 finalists who will perform their talents in front of judges and a live audience. Tickets are $35 for adults and $25 for children. Auditorium, Darien Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road.

Sunday, July 1

Monument Unveiling : 11 a.m. The State Department of Veteran Affairs will unveil a new monument at the Spring Grove Veterans Cemetery, the oldest veterans cemetery in the state. The monument pays tribute to Abraham Lincoln and the Gettysburg Address. Spring Grove Cemetery, Hecker Avenue.

Fourth of July Fireworks : 6 p.m. Darien celebrates the Fourth of July with fireworks. Gates will open at 6 p.m., and the show is expected to start around 8:45 p.m. The event is free. Darien High School, 80 High School Lane.
