The competition will run for eight weeks, ending on Saturday, March 12.

This customized system is designed for adults of all ages and fitness levels. The competition aspect is based on body fat lost, instead of weight lost.

Through the program, participants will receive

  • two group training sessions a week,
  • five health coaching workshops with certified coach Leila Wetmore -- plus three advanced sessions for returning participants,
  • additional office hours to meet one-on-one with Leila,
  • weekly health coaching advice and exercise plan,
  • optional weekly weigh-ins and before and after pictures,
  • 10 percent discount at Embody Fitness Gourmet throughout the competition,
  • 20 percent discount on all personal training packages bought between Feb. 28 to March 12,
  • "We’re All In" water bottle, and
  • a chance to win one of three amazing prizes.

Ongoing support will also come in the form of a private Facebook group, “Chew the Fat,” where participants can share tips and questions with Lean Machine coaches. The three top finishers will win prize packages. But all participants can gain a new lifestyle.

“I learned so much that I can use in my goal of fitness for life,” said Jay Vidal, who placed third in the fall session.

The program costs $470 for members, $570 for non-members and returning participants get $50 off.

Registration opens for members on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. in the wellness center. Registration will open for non-members on Thursday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m.

Teen Lean Machine will be from Jan. 16 to March 12, for teens 10-15 years old. Its goal is to help teens incorporate health habits into their lives. Winners of that program are based on fitness tests and activity tracking by FitBit Flex.
