Coldest Month On Record In Darien Freezes The Landscape

NORWALK, Conn. -- Are you feeling frigid from the bone-chilling temperatures experienced in the past few weeks across Fairfield County?

The view is incredible of a frozen Long Island Sound, but there's no one at Norwalk's Calf Pasture Beach to enjoy it.

There's a a good reason for that. It wasn't just cold, and it wasn't just cold for February. The big chill across the area set a new record for the coldest average monthly temperature at the official record-keeping spot in Bridgeport, according to the National Weather Service.

The average temperature for February 2015 at Bridgeport was 19.9 degrees. This broke the old record for the coldest average monthly temperature for February, set in 1978 with an average temperature of 24.1 degrees.

This also broke the record for the all-time coldest average monthly temperature of 21.9 degrees set in January 2004.

The frigid temperatures across Fairfield County, combined with heavy snowfall, left behind a frozen landscape. You may be sick of the snow in your driveway, but the pictures at Norwalk's Calf Pasture Beach makes a spectacular scene.
