"We want people to rediscover the Y and experience what makes our fitness center so amazing," said Jessica Van Sciver, director of health and fitness at Darien YMCA.

Open from 5 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. on weekends, Darien YMCA includes both wellness and the training centers, featuring more than 60 pieces of state-of-the-art cardio equipment including elliptical machines, treadmills, lifecycles, Nespresso Bikes and Assult Bikes; more than 5,000 pounds of various weight-lifting equipment and more than 85 kettlebells of varying sizes.

The Darien YMCA Training Center is an expansive and open space dedicated to personal training and functional training modalities. This facility features traditional weight equipment such as squat racks, cable machines, a bench press and free weights in addition to housing old school tools of the trade like kettlebells, sandbags, battle ropes, and tires.

"We believe the equipment we offer is second to none and includes everything you need for a personalized workout," said Van Sciver. "The Y has more to offer than many other facilities and anybody from a beginner to a gym veteran is welcome to join."

While strength training is available for members of Darien YMCA, the Wellness Center offers equipment and fitness classes to take cardio goals to the next level. "If you don't want to hop on one of our cardio machines, we offer many classes with top-trained professionals including spin, boxing, strong cycle and much more," said Van Sciver.

"With the extensive programs and equipment for both strength and wellness, the Y is definitely not your grandfather's gym," said Van Sciver.
