FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- National chain restaurants, movie theaters and pizzerias have gained another year to post calorie counts on their menus, The New York Times reports.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration proposed the rule in November, but companies complained they were not given enough time, according to the Times.

Consumer advocates, however, said this is a setback in their efforts to advance the cause of public health, the Times reports.
