This plummy punch, a blend of various wines and fruits, not only refreshes, but, because it's often served in a pitcher, has the kind of cache other cocktails don't. In other words: it's all about sharing. What follows are some options for indulging in this crowd-pleasing concoction. Feel free to tell us more of your favorites on our Facebook pages.

Barcelona Wine Bar, Stamford, Fairfield  White and red, complete with pineapple juice, rum, brandy and orange liqueur, are available at this Spanish charmer where tapas and paella tend to be on every table. Choose from one of the eatery's house-made syrups such as traditional (citrus, fresh fruit, sugar) or spring herbs (lavender, sage, rosemary). The Sangria Flora is another option filled with Spanish Rosé, St. Germain Elderflower liqueur, soda, and fresh fruit. Cheers to Summer: 222 Summer St., (203) 348-4800, Stamford, 4180 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield, (203) 255-0800.

Bartaco, Stamford and Westport: Ok, so there's no sangria here per say but... they do have a a cocktail called the"Well Oiled Style" that's essentially a ""make your own" sangria. It's a pitcher of any of the restaurant's Agua Frescas or iced teas, plus alcohol on the side, and slices of citrus fruit, and it's meant to be shared. You can mix to your liking. Cheers to Summer: 222 Summer St., Stamford, (203) 323-8226 or 20 Wilton Rd., Westport, (203) 222-8226.

Cask Republic, South Norwalk: Fresh berries make the Ménage A Trois Sangria a thrice as nice winner. This dazzling medley includes red wine, raspberry, blueberry, blackberry, ginger, rhubarb, dark rum and triple sec. Cheers to Summer: 99 Washington St., (203) 354-0163.

Eastend, Greenwich: Go for a spin on the traditional with Roselle Sangria - Tito's handmade vodka, hibiscus tea, fresh lemon juice and rosé wine.

Cheers to Summer: 409 Greenwich Ave., (203) 862-9200.

Mexicali Rose, Bethel: Margaritas tend to rule at this Mexican hot spot but red sangria is equally popular, a nice balance to the guac and chips. Cheers to Summer: 68 Stony Hill Rd., (203) 744-6666.
