Bake Sale Benefits Darien's Clark Brothers

DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Youth Hockey Squirt A1 teamed up with Darien Pizza & Grill to support Jeremy and Miles Clark of Darien with a bake sale last month.

The Darien Youth Hockey Squirt A1 team held a bake sale fundraiser to support Jeremy and Miles, Darien boys who suffer from a debilitating disease, Dravet syndrome.

The hockey players sold cookies and treats to raise money to help the boys. Darien Pizza & Grill, the restaurant inside Darien Ice Rink, donated 20 percent of its proceeds that day to support the Clarks.

As a new member to the Darien community, it is our pleasure to assist Darien Youth Hockey players to support such a great cause,'' said Eddie Marini, co-owner of Darien Pizza & Grill.

Six years ago, the twins were diagnosed with a debilitating form of epilepsy called Dravet syndrome. Every day, they suffer multiple seizures and take numerous medications to manage their symptoms. One of the twins has also been diagnosed with autism.

Doctors have recommended that the family invest in a service dog to help with seizure alert, as well as to provide safety and companionship. For more information or to donate visit the Clark benefit website.
