DARIEN, Conn. Experience the magic of fairy godmothers and ugly stepsisters when the British Amateur Theater Group performs Cinderella at Town Hall. Two shows will be presented Jan. 28 and 29 to benefit the YWCA Darien/Norwalk .
Each year the group performs a fairy tale story in the British pantomime style involving theatrical storytelling, jokes, music and slapstick humor. Last year , the troupe staged Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. All proceeds go to YWCA programs such as Parent Awareness and Job Search Support.
British pantomime shows often involve audience interaction, so show up and cheer on Cinderella or boo her ugly stepsisters. This will be the final show of producer-director Larraine Brandon, who created the group in 1994 and will be retiring to Flordia.
Both shows start a 4 p.m. at Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road. Tickets are $10 in advance and can be picked up at the YWCA office, 49 Old Kings Highway North, or on the YWCAs website . Tickets are $12 at the door. Children under 2 can sit on laps for free.
