The Show is entitled, “Compass,” will run through Nov. 23.

“This show explores the relationship between maps and the landscape - how geometry of the compass is applied to undulating geography. Map features like compass roses, cartouches, and sight lines are explored through paintings and mixed media collages. This series is inspired not only by the design of old maps, but also their use in making decisions about directions and path,” Upson said in a statement.

Upson has been painting since childhood and has a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University. She previously served as the Newcomers Club President at YWCA Darien/Norwalk.

The Ceres Gallery has been featuring Upson’s work for the past 10 years. This will be her sixth solo show with the gallery.
